Size & Fit Help

Get the size right
the first time

Healthcare sizing isn’t standard across brands, and a uniform that doesn’t fit gets left in a locker. Here’s how to measure, how our sizing runs, and how to try before you commit a whole team to it.

Ordering for yourself?

Measure a garment you already wear and comfortable in, then match it to the chart. It beats measuring your body every time.

How to Measure

Ordering for a team?

Don’t guess across thirty people. A fit kit puts real sample sizes in front of staff before you commit to the bulk order.

How to measure

Measure the garment, not the person.

The most reliable way to size healthcare uniforms is to take a garment the wearer already likes, lay it flat, and measure it. Body measurements tell you the body; garment measurements tell you the fit — and fit is what people actually judge.

size-fit Chest

Step 01

Chest

Lay the garment flat and measure straight across from underarm seam to underarm seam. Double it for the full chest measurement.

Body lengthsize-fit

Step 02

Body length

From the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem. This is the measurement that decides whether a tunic sits where someone wants it.

Waistsize-fit

Step 03

Waist

For pants, measure the relaxed waistband flat and double it. If it’s elasticated, don’t stretch it — measure it at rest.

Inseamsize-fit

Step 04

Inseam

From the crotch seam to the hem. Tell us the shoe worn on shift — a clog and a sneaker change where the hem should land.

Between two sizes?

For scrubs and tunics, most people are happier in the larger size — healthcare uniforms are worn for twelve hours, over other layers, through a lot of bending and reaching. For polos and corporate wear, where the look is closer-fitting, the smaller size usually reads better. If you’re unsure, ask us before you order a whole team.

Size charts

The chart lives with the garment.

There isn’t one Med Uniforms size chart, because there can’t be — a stretch scrub set, a tunic and a corporate blouse are cut differently even when they carry the same letter on the label. So every product page carries the chart for that specific garment, measured flat in centimetres.

1 · Find the garment

Open the product you’re considering in the shop. The size chart sits with it, so you’re reading the numbers for that cut rather than a general guide that may not apply.

2 · Compare like with like

Our charts are GARMENT measurements taken flat, not body measurements. Measure a garment the wearer already likes the fit of and compare the two directly.

3 · Ask if it's close

If someone sits between two sizes, or you’re sizing a whole team, send us the garment and the numbers. We’ll tell you which way to go — and send a fit kit if that’s the safer answer.

Can't find the chart, or comparing two styles?

Tell us the garment and we’ll send the chart straight back, along with how that style runs against the others in the range. It takes us a minute and saves you a return.

Fit kits

Nobody guesses a size for thirty people.

01

Tell us the garments and the range

Which styles you’re considering and roughly how many staff, so we send a useful size run.

02

The kit arrives on site

Sample sizes in the styles you chose, labelled, ready to try on over a shift.

03

Staff pick their own size

They try, they choose, you write it down. It takes a morning and removes the argument later.

04

Send the kit back

Return the samples in the same carton.

05

Order against real numbers

We produce to the sizes staff actually chose, and keep them on file for new starters.

By garment

How each style is cut.

Sizing isn’t only about numbers. These are the things people tell us after a few weeks of wearing them.

Scrubs

Cut with room to move, so they can feel large on the hanger and right on the floor. If someone wants a closer look, a size down works — but not for anyone lifting or transferring all shift.

Tunics

The length is the decision, not the width. Ask where people want it to sit — mid-hip and lower-hip are the two answers you’ll get, and they change the size someone should take.

Polos & corporate

Closer fitting than clinical wear, and worth checking whether staff want the unisex or the women’s-fit cut — the shoulder and the body shape differ, not just the size.

Knitwear & jackets

Size for what goes underneath. A cardigan over a tunic usually needs the same size, not one up; a jacket over a fleece needs the extra room.

Pants

Waist first, then inseam. Elasticated waists are forgiving; hem length is not, so confirm the footwear worn on shift before ordering a floor’s worth.

Footwear

Clinical clogs run differently to street shoes, and feet swell over a twelve-hour shift. If someone is between sizes, the larger one is almost always the right call.

After the first order

Sized once, then never again.

Once staff have chosen their sizes, we keep them against your account. A new starter tells you their size, you order it, and it arrives matching what everyone else is wearing — no fit kit, no guessing, no second round of exchanges.

Good to know

Sizing questions.

A garment, every time. Take something they already wear and are comfortable in, lay it flat and measure it. Body measurements tell you the body; garment measurements tell you how the finished piece will feel, which is what people actually judge.

No, and that’s the trap. Healthcare sizing isn’t standardised, so someone who is a medium in one brand can be a large in another. Always check against our chart rather than assuming a size carries across.

For scrubs and tunics, go up — they’re worn for long shifts, over layers, with a lot of movement. For polos and corporate wear, the smaller size usually looks better. If it matters across a whole team, ask us first.

Follow the care label, and tell us if the garments will be industrially laundered so we can advise on the right fabric.

Talk to us before ordering if you’re unsure — that’s what fit kits are for.

Tell us what you need and we’ll confirm what’s available in that style.

For larger teams, get in touch and we’ll work out the best approach.
