Individual identification

Your organisation’s uniform. Their name.

Name embroidery adds individual staff identification directly to the garment — stitched in, not clipped on. The uniform still reads as your organisation’s, and the person wearing it can be identified personally.

In a clinic, practice or care setting that is often genuinely useful: patients, residents, clients and visiting colleagues can see who they are speaking with without having to ask. Whether you use it is entirely your call — plenty of organisations brand the garment alone and stop there.

One system

Logo and name should work together.

When a garment carries both your organisation logo and an employee’s name, the two are best planned as one visual system rather than as two separate embroidery decisions.

The common arrangement is the organisation logo at left chest with the employee name, and a role where you want one, at right chest. That is a common approach rather than a universal rule — pockets, seams, zips, garment style, the shape of your logo, how long staff names run, whether role information is included and any other branding you need can all point somewhere else.

Name + role

Keep staff identification clear and consistent.

Depending on how you want your uniform to read, embroidered identification can carry the employee’s name on its own, or the name with a role beneath it.

Simplest

Employee name

Clean, easy to identify and straightforward to keep consistent as a team changes.

More detail

Employee name + role

A role or title beneath the name — Practice Manager, Registered Nurse, Physiotherapist, Reception, Dental Assistant. You decide which titles your team uses.

The available embroidery area and the amount of information both influence the final treatment. Longer names or titles naturally require more space, so the aim is to keep the identification useful and visually balanced without overcrowding the garment.

Team consistency

Different names. One uniform system.

No two teams are made of the same names. Some are short, some run long, roles differ, and staff are in different garments and different sizes. Individually that is unremarkable; across twenty uniforms it is what decides whether a team looks coordinated or assembled.

A long name may need handling differently from a short one to hold that relationship, which is the point: the treatment adapts so the system doesn’t have to.

The names change. The uniform system shouldn’t.

What stays steady is the relationship between the elements — where the name sits, how the role relates to it, the embroidery colour, the overall scale and how all of it works with your logo and the garment.

Staff details

Accurate names in. Accurate uniforms out.

Personalised garments are only as good as the information they are built from, so this is the part worth getting right before anything is stitched. For each employee we need:

Employee name

The exact spelling required on the garment.

Role or title

If one is being included.

Garment

The garment or style being ordered for that employee.

Size

The garment size they have selected.

Quantity

How many personalised garments that employee needs.

For larger teams, staff details can be supplied in an agreed format so the information can be checked and managed consistently. If you haven’t sent us your organisation logo yet, that is a separate step.

Ongoing orders

Name embroidery doesn’t stop after the first order.

Teams move. New people start, garments wear out and get replaced, sizes change, roles change. Personalised uniforms therefore have to work as an ongoing system rather than a single embroidery job — a starter who joins next year should receive a garment that belongs with the ones issued this year.

For repeat requirements, the established branding and name-embroidery approach provides the reference point for new garments. For organisations with larger or ongoing staff movement, Staff Ordering, New Employee Onboarding and Uniform Programs can provide a more structured way to manage recurring uniform requirements. Name embroidery is equally suitable for smaller healthcare teams requiring individualised garments.

Before production

Names and placement are confirmed before production.

Every personalised garment carries information specific to one person, so both the details supplied and the embroidery treatment they will receive need to be right before anything is stitched. You remain responsible for supplying the correct employee names, roles and garment details, while we confirm the embroidery treatment and placement before production.

Name embroidery FAQs

Yes. Individual employee names can be embroidered directly onto suitable uniforms, alongside your organisation branding.

Yes, where you want one included. A role or title can sit beneath the name — you decide which titles your team uses and how they are worded.

Right chest is a common position when the organisation logo sits at left chest. It depends on the garment and your overall branding system, so it is confirmed against the garments you’re ordering.

Yes. This is a common approach, and the two are best planned together as one system rather than treated as separate decisions.

A longer name may need a slightly different treatment so it still sits comfortably and the team stays visually consistent. We look at the range of names before setting the treatment.

Yes. New starters and replacement garments can be produced to the branding and name treatment already established, so later orders continue to match the ones already issued.

The exact spelling of each employee name, the role or title if one is being included, the garment, the size and the quantity for that employee.

No. Name embroidery is stitched directly onto the garment. A name badge is a separate physical item worn on the uniform — some organisations prefer badges because they can be moved between garments or updated independently.
